Custom Pickguards

A pickguard is both a visual statement and a precisely fitted component. The outline must relate to the body, the pickup openings must suit the hardware, and the mounting pattern must align with the instrument.

Bass Foundry designs new pickguards, develops replacements from reference parts, and adapts layouts for custom builds. We can work from an original guard, measured drawing, or production file, with fit verification before the finished material is committed.

• Pickup shape, placement, and adjustment access
• Screw locations and edge clearances
• Control holes and hardware recesses
• Material thickness and edge treatment
• Engraving and decorative details

Laser cutting can produce detailed profiles in compatible materials. CNC machining supports bevels, recesses, and profiles where the material or edge requirements call for a different approach. Engraving can add a personal detail or a builder’s identity.

Material compatibility is checked before laser work. Machining workflow, tool paths, feeds, and speeds are matched to the chosen stock and tooling.

Instrument names alone do not establish an exact fit. Production revisions, previous modifications, and hardware changes can affect the profile and hole pattern. Supply the original guard where possible, or provide a dimensioned reference with the changes clearly identified.
